Good, by default
Today, boys and girls, I will forego any talk of the Chicago Cubs (GO CUBS!), my hate of my profession, or my family, and take on a subject that popped up in my head.
I want to be positive today, so I want to make a list of things that are good by default. I want to pick some little and some big things that, upon hearing them, one can automatically consider them to be good things. No criteria required, just a snap judgment.
Now, there are some things that are just plain obvious as to being a good thing every single time you experience it--the cooing of a baby, a favorite song, an unexpected cool breeze on a hot day--but I want to go out into left field and find some of my own. Feel free to add.
In no particular order:
Home cooking from a mom or mom-in-law...doesn't even have to be my mom or m-i-l
A favorite movie popping on the TV in the middle of a bout of insomnia
Any comic book by Peter David or Terry Moore
A glass of ice-cold water after waking in the middle of the night
Finding an issue of Games Magazine on the newsstand
Taking that first shower after I get a haircut
Peanut caramel clusters, or turtles, or whatever you want to call them
Aussie football. I'll always watch when it's on, no matter who's playing
Robin Williams being interviewed on a news show
Someone asking out of the blue "Wanna play some cards?"
My monthly/bimonthly magazines waiting for me in my mailbox
Finally having a fever break...I've never been so happy to sweat
Waking up in the night, looking at your watch, and seeing you have another 5 hours before your alarm goes off
To be continued...
