Ugh, monsoons are here
Well, it's been said that when the dew point is over 55 degrees for three straight days, then it's monsoon season. We're starting Day 3 not, and it feels oppressive out there. Yuck.
Cubs take Game 1 on the Cards/Cubs series at Busch! Woo hoo! Z is back, boys and girls. They limited him to only 87 pitches, but he went 6 scoreless, striking out 5 and giving up only 2 hits, to get a 2-1 win. Our #2 started, Ted Lilly goes on the bump tomorrow...hopefully Fox will air the game here instead of demonstrating their asskissery (like ESPN) to the Skankees and Red Sox, again. Let's see--second place vs. fourth place in the AL East, or the top two teams in the NL battling it out. Bet I still end up getting NY/Boston. *rolling eyes*
Regardless, feels good to fly the white flag again.
Saw Wall-E...good movie, but not great. It's good until he gets on the ship, and it kinda goes downhill from there. Better than Monsters Inc, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo, but not as good as either Toy Story movie, or my favorite Pixar movie, The Incredibles. The animation was wonderful, though...you could barely tell at times that the scenes on Earth were animated.
Maybe it was me, but the supposed robot love story was overshadowed by the (to me) heavyhanded message of the perils of rampant consumerism. Regardless, Wall-E's character was very endearing, and--dare I say it?--cute.
As a bonus, the closing credits are very creative and well done, and the cartoon short, Presto, was laugh-out-loud hilarious physical humor. Pixar needs to put all of these pre-movie shorts on DVD.
