CUBS WIN!!! CUBS WIN!!! HOLY COW!!!
This is the second year in a row I got to post this. I kind of like it.
The chase for the title is over. My Cubbies held off a tenacious Cardinal team who pretty much gave us a lead and almost, but not quite, took it back, and the closure team of Carlos McNasty and K Wood shut the door. Cubs win, 5-4. Next goal: home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The magic number for that is 2. We can get it down to 1 by winning in our last home game tomorrow. After that, we will prolly end up playing the Mets or Phillies in the division series in a week and a half, and the magic number from there is 11. Just 11 wins and the Cubs end the century of futility. *crossing fingers* GO CUBS!!!
In other news, I got my semi-annual flier from the AZ State Retirement System. According to them, I can retire in just 17 more years, at age 65. Actually, I could retire in just 8 more years, but I would get about $1,200 less each month. Besides, as long as I am in this hell that I call teaching, and I am most likely too damned old to be in another career at this juncture, why not milk it for all it's worth?
Saw a Millionaire rerun on GSN tonight. They had a million dollar question on the country where Paddington Bear came from. Piece of cake. And yet, I couldn't get on this show. I swear, they kept me off the show out of fear--they knew I would so kick ass. The part that really pisses me off is when they have these people in the Hot Seat who either 1) have made it on the show before or 2) have friends who made it on the show or into the Hot Seat. I want to strangle them. I busted my ass at the phone game, and nothing. I went to a contestant search in San Diego, and nothing. And these boneheads are on for the second or third time, or their friends made it on. Yeah, that doesn't suck or anything.
By the way, out of that stack of questions the guy won a million on, I only would have used a lifeline on one of them.
Sick (but funny) joke--
Q: What is the opposite of Christopher Reeve?
A: Christopher Walken
