Guess 10+ years of seniority means squat

Well, as promised, I had to do my pub trivia night during the returns. Unfortunately, our trivia teams got bumped out of the bar and into the restaurant. I say 'unfortunately' because 1) we could not bring extra chairs for excess team members, 2) the room was kinda small, and most importantly, 3) I had no microphone, so I got to depend on my powerful diaphragm to belt out the questions and answers.
Things went okay...I started to hate the teams that repeated ask for repeats on questions because they either weren't listening, or they were working on other questions, or they left a blank open on their sheet and forgot which question they skipped. *rolling eyes* We had a team who showed up faithfully for weeks finally win a round, and some controversy due to a poorly-worded question on my part. *sigh* Wouldn't be trivia night if I didn't f**k up at least once.
The fun part was watching the conservative teachers (yes, they do exist) piss and moan about how we were going to become the Socialist States of America now. *rolling eyes again* We also had wild cheering going on in the bar when Obama was declared president. Um, guys, let's wait 'til he actually does something before we cheer or condemn, m'kay?
That being said, I just believe that the GOP put up their best man, it sucked hard, and now it's the other party's turn to see if they can clean up the mess.
As for voting, put me down for a 2 1/2 hour wait to vote. Good thing I took the day off. The geniuses (both of them--yes, there were only *two*) who file through the verification lists of the voters moved at the speed of slug. How do I know this? Because when I finally reached the end of my death march, there were 16 voting booths, waiting to be used. Thing was, only four were actually in use at any one time. Truly amazing.
I'm also betting there will be a lot more people voting absentee in four years. Just a guess.

But I have one of those "conservative teachers" I think you're thinking of on my friends'list, and reading his posts over the last few weeks was ... painful.
For example, his comments from Tuesday night:
Comrade President Terrorist Appeaser in Chief Obamanation will have unchecked power for at least the next 2 years. Freedom and liberty will become a thing of the past.
Congratulations all you mindless sheep who voted for him. You've managed to enslave us all. First to go will be Freedom of Speech. as he sqealches political dissent by re-enacting the fairness doctrine. If you think this policy is fair, then you truly deserve your slavery. Don't worry. You won'tt even notice it gone unless you disagree with him.
Next will be surrender in Iraq as he stabs our soldiers in the back, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Then will come his Stalinist Domestic Security Force. Are YOU ready to turn in your neighbor?
Get ready for the economy to tank even worse. He's going to destroy it. But I'll give him the same the same respect that President Bush got from all you.
The only good thing I can see in this is that IF we survive 4 years of Obamagheddon, then the Democratic Party will be finished.
I really don't know what to say anymore, either to him personally or to the opinion in general. There is so much polemic misinformation (I'm trying VERY hard here not to call it abject stupidity) there that I'm literally left speechless. *sigh*
(Btw, he's a math teacher, like you. :) I
mostlyrefuse to believe the subject could be influencing someone's mental state. *grins, winks*)no subject
'Mindless sheep'? Like the ones who voted for W the last two times around? Good lord, he didn't even get half the popular vote either time, and he had to be appointed on the first go-round.
Loss of Freedom of Speech? Like when Bush got the okay to tap into any damn phone or Google websearch he wants?
Nice job of his playing of the fear card, too, the classic strategy of the GOP lately. The gloom-n-doom wouldn't seem so incredbily stilted if, oh, any of these events had any chance of happening...*rolling eyes*
The saddest part is that no matter what you tell this person, you'll never ever convince him otherwise.
And nobody is a math teacher like me. ;-)

What I really don't get is how a (supposedly) intelligent man with a college degree can be so obtuse -- and what makes it worse, IMO, is that he's both pagan and "officially" bisexual as well as Southern (from Ala., IIRC) and a member of Freedom Front (or some other extremist right-wing organization like them). Is it just me, or does something not quite add up there?
